Faking It

Lash Factor
Fake eyelashes come in a band of lashes or as individual pieces. If you are adhering the lashes yourself, Melissa Henning, manager at the M•A•C Cosmetic counter at Dillard's in Battlefield Mall, suggests you use the long bands because individual pieces are harder to hold in your fingers, and you have to be much more precise with the placement. She also suggests doing a test run with the lashes a day or so before the wedding.
How to Apply Lashes:
1. Put on all makeup first.
2. Henning suggests using a hand-held mirror and setting it on a
counter, so that you are looking down into the mirror. This will
make the lashes easier to apply.
3. Put a thin layer of glue on the fake lash. Too much glue will
clump. (You can buy eyelashes and the correct kind of glue at
drugstores such as Walgreens.)
4. Place the fake lash as close to your real lash line as possible
and push up and down slightly to mix in the fake lashes with the
real ones.
5. After the glue is dry, put on another layer of eyeliner to mask
any glue and to smooth any spots that got smudged as you applied
the lashes.

Fake 'n' Bake
Maybe the season you are holding your wedding isn't conducive to lounging outside to get that perfect tan. Maybe with all the planning, confirming and running around, you simply don't have time to wait for that golden sheen. This doesn't mean that you want to be camouflaged by your white dress either. You have some quick options that shouldn't leave you orange or looking like a lobster.
Airbrush and Mystic tanning are essentially the same product. They just vary in their application. Mystic tanning includes an automated booth that you step into and are sprayed. An airbrush tan is applied by a salon technician, and greater attention is given to prevent running and uneven coverage. Spray tans will last a week or two and generally require two visits. Go a day or two before the wedding to prevent day-of mishaps. Exfoliate and shave beforehand, then moisturize. These steps will help ensure a longer-lasting tan.
Some local tanning salons offer Ultra Bronze or high-pressure tanning. These beds have bulbs that filter out the UVB rays, which means you have a two percent chance of burning. Body FX manager Cari Oughton says this is the equivalent of three tanning sessions, and the shortened time will generally cost more than a standard bulb tanning bed.

Extending Your 'Do
Hair extensions come in a variety of options. If you go with extensions made from real hair rather than fake hair, it is going to cost more, but it can be died to perfectly match your hair color. Fake hair doesn't absorb odor as well as real hair does. Both can usually be curled and flat-ironed. Real and fake hair extensions can be set with an adhesive, sewn or clipped into your hair. Owner of The Alley Angie Hoskins says the glued extensions will last a couple of weeks. As the hair begins to grow away from the root, you'll want to have it removed and reapplied, so it isn't weighing down your natural hair or breaking it. The clip-ins can be taken in and out for years, so they are a good investment, she says.
