Interior design is a personal journey that goes beyond paint and carpet. We’ve selected the hottest looks from the top creative minds of 417-land for this year’s Interior Designs of the Year.

More than 60 entries were submitted to 417 Home, and the cream of the design crop was selected by our panel of judges—Teena DeRonde of The Resource Room, Kevin Parnell of River Rouge Designs, Cheryl Doran of Pellham Phillips Architects & Engineers, Kelly Shaw of Kelly Shaw Designs, Melissa Turpin of Unique Tile and Renee Sneed, a Missouri State student.

In our residential winners we see a variation of design styles, but the common thread that binds them together is their ability to translate their client’s needs into a space that’s visually appealing. Click here to see the Residential Interior Designs of the Year now.

It takes just as much to spend hours in an office space to create a warm and inviting environment as it is a residential one. Althought it is a different creature altogether. Rather than a having a head of household whose tastes and needs are to be met, a designer has to consider the day-to-day tasks of many. From small-sized offices to large community areas, the commercial honors in this year’s Interior Designs of the Year went to those who honed into what their clients needed. The tasks at hand for the commercial designers went from hand-picking the carpet that would most likely be found in a first-class cabin on the Titanic to creating an office that would inspire those working in a creative field.
